Summary

The Creative Director is responsible for managing the creative design direction for the Great HealthWorks' brands, and forwarding their position across all mediums of creative content. The creative direction includes updating the look, tone and feel, pulling together the creation of ideas to develop and execute against the brand guide for: TV, digital campaigns, web presence, master brand and line extensions, print, and all consumer facing mediums.

Leading both the internal creative team of designers and external agencies, the Creative Director establishes the design direction bringing the GHW portfolio of products to life in conjunction with the entity's vision, mission, and values in a way that resonates with audiences and moves them to action. This position will work cross-functionally with teams from all departments to understand their project requirements, deadlines and messaging objectives in order to create materials that are on-brand, on-target, on-budget, and on-time. Position is supported by a tactical trafficking manager utilizing the Wrike system for creative workflow management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and evolve brand voice and identity through captivating visual and written storytelling
  • Provide thought leadership, lead the creative team, design and oversee visual development for digital and static creative execution
  • Value diversity and inclusion in day-to-day interactions and in creative decision-making
  • Collaborate with leaders and teams throughout GHW to continually drive and refine how GHW communicates its brand mission, personality and perspective to audiences and stakeholders for all the brands
  • Listen, question, prioritize and translate business needs and marketing goals into strategic deliverables, from conception through production
  • Help build a culture of strategic thinking and thoughtful inquiry, making decisions based on actual insights and data
  • Oversee the cross-functional leads to estimate, create, manage, and drive deadlines for projects
  • Work in collaboration with the content production team (editors, producers, motion graphics) to ensure performance matches the original approved concept
  • Build and lead a high-performance team; hire and retain high-caliber talent in clearly defined roles; set goals, delegate work, hold direct reports accountable; develop and empower direct reports to make decisions and take action
  • Oversee copy tone and direction is on brand with all final creation across all mediums ensuring quality and brand consistency
  • Mentor and coach the creative team to support professional growth and to enhance brand storytelling
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of digital, photography, videography and new media, as well as how best to approach delivering integrated visual stories across distinct platforms
  • Proactively discover areas of improvement and recommend thoughtful solutions to executive leadership
  • Stay abreast of industry news and best practices to maintain a deep understanding of the current visual communications landscape and emerging trends
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Minimum Experience, Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred in Fine Art Design, Design, Visual Communications or related discipline
  • 10+ years in creative role in professional commercial design, preferably with a creative agency
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in a related role
  • 3+ years' experience preferred in a Creative Director role
  • Experience in a range of mediums including: digital, social, broadcast and print
  • Experience working in WRIKE or another organizational workflow management tool
  • Experience leveraging consumer-centric marketing strategy to inform creative and content solutions
  • Photo editing experience
  • Extensive experience with Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign, specifically with mock ups, digital design and multimedia presentations
  • A rich portfolio of work examples in a variety of medium (websites, advertisements, graphics, multimedia, etc.)
  • Experience working with WordPress and similar templates is preferred
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish languages, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively in both languages across a wide range of audiences

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to invent new ideas for branding, advertising campaigns and marketing messages. Need to understand fresh approaches to advertising
  • Ability to understand current trends in the advertising and marketing world
  • Ability to make decisions regarding copy, and production, ensuring all creative is in alignment
  • Ability to effectively lead a group of creatives
  • Capable of managing multiple projects in a timely and efficient manner
  • Excellent storytelling skills to present and communicate work
  • Openness to learning, willingness to discuss new points of view and receive critical feedback of design work by other executives and team members
  • Must be self-motivated, professional, detail oriented, and possess excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast pace environment while under pressure and within tight deadlines
  • Solid strategic and tactical instinct skills
  • Must have a thorough understanding of graphic design, page layout, retouching and typography
  • Working knowledge of HTML5 and Java Script nice but not mandatory
  • Must have a strong work ethic and be a functional member of the creative team
  • Design and typography skills are a must
  • Strong communication skills and problem solving
  • Leadership skills with ability to motivate, train, hire, onboard and retain team members in the design space
