The Software Engineer II (Magento Developer) is responsible for developing web applications, websites, backend systems, and attributed services as well as identifying opportunities to trial and deploy new capabilities and tools to keep current with technology in the Magento 2 platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize understanding of Magento 2 code structure and extension architecture to develop sound technical strategies
  • Review, develop and, implement innovative features and functionality for tools and modules based on business needs
  • Optimize and troubleshoot application code and Magento 2 core features
  • Work with Magento 2 modules, complex architecture, and business logic
  • Review commits for quality, security, scalability, and stability before they are committed to the production sites
  • Collaborating with the Project Managers and the Application Development team members to brainstorm solutions to business needs
  • Adding technical specs and architecture to the team's specs for new modules and website features
  • Scoping out Magento 2 Integration projects with third-party systems and services
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience, Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science preferred or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of experience as a Software Engineer in the Magento 2 platform; demonstrated success developing a variety of software systems while taking on increasing responsibility for analysis, design, implementation and deployment tasks
  • 3+ years of experience developing data-driven applications utilizing relational and non-relational database engines as part of the overall application architecture (experience with any or all of the following is highly desirable: MariaDB, MySQL, SQL Server, MongoDB/NoSQL)
  • Experience writing PHP, JavaScript, HTML and CSS code and meaningful experience doing so in the Magento 2 platform using object-oriented programming principles
  • Experience with JSON, XML, AJAX and jQuery
  • Experience with Microservice/Service Oriented Architectures
  • Experience working with/developing CRMs/ERPs or other complex enterprise applications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the Magento 2 framework OR PHP based frameworks and CMS/eCommerce systems
  • Knowledge of REST API development, deployment, security, and maintenance
  • Ability to apply skills, policies, and procedures learned to complete assignments of substantial scope and complexity (system-wide initiatives).
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, including team and partnership building
  • Must be a self-starter, proactive, assertive and able to express ideas in a variety of atmospheres
  • Demonstrated proficiency in translating high level requirements into functional and technical specifications
  • Able to work in a fast paced, multi-project environment
  • Must possess strong analytical and technical skills
  • Able to follow the direction of multiple individuals, depending upon the projects assigned
